Silbury Hill, Wiltshire, UK July 2001. You can just make out fence posts on top of the hill - it surrounds the recently appeared hole. This site is also known as the 'womb of the Earth Mother'

The entrance to the underground West Kennet Long Barrow and it's several chambers (a few hundred yards from Silbury Hill).

inside...a little note on the bottom photo of a candle: we took this photo on our first visit to WKLB a few years ago when we arrived to find every chamber had a candle lit inside. It appeared very beautiful - however we have had an email informing us that "exposing megaliths to the sustained heat of a candle flame will almost certainly result in damage to the stone, if not the stone's complete destruction due to progressive fissuring over years" - we were unaware that this was so, but it is still a true depiction of our visit there that day so we leave the photo for others information.
